by Dante Salvatierra The story begins near the end of World War II, as American sailor Bobby Shearer buys a statue as a souvenier of his travels. Unfortunately, a few years later he destroys the statue accidentally and a curse is put upon him and he dies soon afterwards. His ghost cannot rest in peace until the statue's pieces are found and reassembled. He becomes a ghost, trapped in a 4th grade classroom. It is up to The Latchkey Kids to risk their lives to find the statue and free Bobby. They have to accomplish their mission against all odds. Children and adults of all ages will identify with The Latchkey Kids. They are normal children who have problems very much like children all over the world. Each of them must return home to empty houses because their parents have to work. Each of them must overcome their fears and become self reliant quickly. This story is packed with action, humor and good old fashioned friendship. Teachers! A teacher's guide is available.
